London Santa Skate 2006

In its third consecutive year the Santa Skate is considered by many to be the street skate of the year and the best fun in the London Skate calendar. From humble beginnings with ten hand picked skaters in 2004 the event ballooned in 2005 to include over two hundred skaters.

Dressed as Father Christmas and many sexy Mrs Christmases we took to the streets spreading festive cheer and enjoying a splendid winter street skate. Smiles of participants were only eclipsed by that of the public with even the marshals being received with good grace by London’s usually sour faced motorists.  As well as being outstanding fun the event was great for skate relations seeing skaters and skate organisations from every corner pulling together to produce a most memorable event.  Along side the memories the event raised much of the cash needed to fund the 2006 skating season as well as allowing us to carry out upgrades to the sound system which led directly to the now infamous ASBOx radio linked sound system.

Already this year’s event, set for the 16th of Dec is set to eclipse last years. The excitement has been building since we announced the date and we already have bookings from European skate clubs as well as those in the UK  Safe to say this year will be massive. Reflecting this size we will be rolling out the London skate scenes big guns, linking the LondonSkate’s Bassfreight & ASBOx’s, the London Friday Night Skate’s FireBrox and the legendary Thumper sound systems together to produce the most awesome mobile sound system ever heard.  With marshals from across the scene and skaters from all over Santa Skate 2006 is going to be the event of the year.

All the details of the skate can be found on the flyer, but to summarise:

• The Santa Skate 06 takes place on Saturday 16th of December at 5pm, assembly point opposite the bandstand Serpentine Road Hyde Park London W2.
• The skate will take two hours with a refreshment stop halfway, usually at Trafalgar Square before returning to the Victoria Public house for a Christmas knees up.
• To take part you need to obtain a voucher, minimum donation £10, which gets you a full Santa Suit, complete with hat and beard which is yours to keep, entry to the skate and the party afterwards at the Victoria public house.
• Vouchers may be obtained in person from one of Santa’s Little Helpers who will be around on London’s street skates in the next few weeks or by email at contact@londonskate.com or come and find us at serpentineroad.com in the UK scene.
• Vouchers will be exchanged for suits at the Victoria Public House Sussex Place London W2 from 2pm on Sat 16th Dec.
• The cut-off date for vouchers is the 1st December 06, a reduced donation of £7 is available for those wishing to skate in their own Santa Costumes.
• Places are unlimited but please obtain vouchers as early as possible to enable us to order the Santa suits in good time.
