Tenerife Half-Marathon

Hi Mike!

Hoping you're OK, here's another event for you: we recently obtained the authorization to organize the skaters' version of a popular annual athletic half-marathon here in Tenerife (Canary Islands). The event will be held under the local government protection, and is sponsored by Coca-Cola, a big spanish sports shop, MOGEMA and... Pattinaggiocorsa.it, of course!

It will take place on April the 3º, Skaters will start 5 minutes before the athletes (8:55), and will receive the same services as them: drink posts every 2.5 kms, massage at the end, medical attention if needed, etc. Registration is only 10 euros. Also there will be local & national TV coverage!

It is a non-competitive event as there are no prizes (just a T-shirt and a small souvenir) and the idea is to promote our sport in this part of Spain, where there's only a couple of hockey teams and perhaps 20 artistic skaters, but dozens of fitness skaters. It is the very first event of this class for skaters in the archipelago, and one of the first in the whole country, following the successes of the Mitja Half-Marathon and the Mediterranean Marathon in Cataluña.

I said there are no prizes, but we're able to provide FREE ACCOMODATION in self-catering basis on luxury apartments near the beach and free transportation for the first skaters from abroad that will register (up to 10 persons for a whole week). Knowing that you have a big base of visitors from Europe, perhaps some skaters that were planning a holiday round here might be interested, so if you could give this event some promotion, I'll be very grateful.

At the moment apparently we reached the minimum number of registered skaters required to attempt this again next year, so hopefully we'll have a full race next time. And hopefully others will follow our steps around the world...
