The British Roller Skating Grand Prix

Goodwood 2002

April 2002

I recently received an email from Barry Bridger about this charity event, taking place on 26th May 2002.  The event will be benefiting The National Centre for Young People With Epilepsy (reg. no. 311877) and to further the sport of roller skating in Great Britain.

Entrance, Times, and Prices:

  • Doors open at 10am
  • Sponsored scoot 11am ~ mid-day
  • Sponsored skate 1pm onwards
  • On the day: Spectators £3.50, Skaters and Scooterists £7.00, Age 6 and under FREE
  • Advance ticket £5.00, includes one skater/scooterist and one spectator
  • Protective gear is recommended.

Event Features:

  • Skates, Scooters, etc. allowed.
  • 26.2 miles sponsored roller marathon.
  • Skate suppliers will be present displaying the latest gear.
  • The National Roller Hockey Association (NRHA) will be running a beat the goali competition.
  • Karting, Helicopter rides, flying lessons, refreshments, etc.
  • Artistic skating exhibitions.
  • Speed skating races.

Tickets are available in advance by sending a cheque made payable to "The British Roller Skating Grand Prix" for £5.00 plus an S.A.E. to BRSGP c/o B. Bridger, 6/33 Croydon Road, Reigate, Surrey, RH2 0LZ.

There's space for thousands, loads of parking and the event will have at least one shop hiring skates, selling skate stuff, etc.  If any other shops want to come along just contact Barry quickly and send £50 towards the hire costs and you can have a BIG area to display your goods in.  As skaters will see by the poster, it's better to get your ticket in advance as it's cheaper and a spectator will get in free with you to look after your picnic!

You will also get a chance to scoot around the circuit. One lap in 2.5 miles so that should wear one leg out before the skate!

Contact Barry Bridger (IISA Level 1 Instructor) or telephone him on 07944 281 862.  See this Adobe Acrobat .pdf file for the poster.

A sponsorship form in Microsoft Word format can be downloaded here.
