I insist that all
students wear at least wrist guards and knee pads - everybody will fall
sooner or later. Because of the risk of a fall and subsequent injury,
some people also choose to wear elbow pads and/or a helmet, but that is your
personal decision. Bear in mind that protective gear doesn't
necessarily prevent injury in a fall.
Skating is usually considered a dangerous sport. You thus accept a
risk of injury by choosing to come skating, and that during lessons this
same risk of injury is still present.
There are times where the weather affects safety - usually a wet surface
is enough to force me to postpone the lesson. I want to teach you as
much as you want the lesson to go ahead, but I also don't want to risk your
safety.
