Online Skate Shops - Internet:

Kate's Skates

Website: http://www.kateskates.co.uk
I've purchased online a couple of times from Kate, and the service was quick and informed.

ePuck.com

Website: http://www.ePuck.com
Excellent service, a fair range of kit (not as big as HockeyGiant.com), and decent internet prices make it worthwhile to purchase from this purely hockey store.  I've placed around 8 orders with them, and have always been impressed with their good and fast customer service.  One time they actually advised me against a particular purchase based on my specific circumstances, which impressed me as it's unusual to get such candid advice from a store.

Other Skating Shops

Decathlon

Canada Water Retail Park, Surrey Quays, SE16
Tel: 020 7394 2000

This is a massive shop the size of a warehouse.  The outdoor sports section has a whole wall of skates ranging from the cheapest of the cheap to quality recreational skates.  They stock K2, Salomon, Rossignol, Technica, Hypno, Rollerblade, etc.  They even have a _small_ amount of low-end hockey kit.  I've heard quite a few people comment that this is a good place to come try skates on because of the huge range of available skates, and that they've received excellent service and good discounts here.

Opening hours:

Sat                   09.00-19.00

The Skate Shop at the Streatham Ice Arena

Tel: 020 8677 6400
Opening Hours:
Monday - Thursday 11.00 to 18.00
Friday 12.00 to 20.00
Saturday 10.00 to 18.00
Sunday 10.30 to 13.00 (Best call first to check the shop will actually open)

This shop is located inside the Ice Arena opposite the ticket shop, and is near the Streatham Bus Garage and the Kart Racing.  I was very impressed with this shop when I bought some hockey skates there on 13-10-2000.  The owner kept his shop open an extra half hour just for us, and really gave us excellent service every time we've visited him.  He is very knowledgeable in hockey and quick to share information.  The prices are generally pretty good here, and they are not out to take your last pound, although you should always shop around and check prices first.  The shop concentrates on hockey kit for both inline and ice, but does have recreational and aggressive inline skates as well.
